The IRMA Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished refractory technologist for  the year 2007-08 has been awarded to Mr. S.N. Namboodiri, Essar Steel, Hazira, Gujarat.

Mr. Namboodiri has worked in SAIL for almost 30 years before joining Essar Steel and subsequently JSW Steel. He was one of the pioneers in establishing World Class Refractory practices in JSW with BOF life more than Ten Thousand and low Refractory Consumption (8kg/ton of steel). Presently he is working as Advisor to Essar Steel, Hazira. (New Projects)
